Our 77-acre Outdoor Center sits on beautiful Jobs Pond in Portland, CT. With open fields, modern facilities, and peaceful woodlands, it’s the perfect place for children to grow in spirit, mind, and body.
At YMCA Camp Ingersoll, safety and character are our top priorities. All staff are CPR/First Aid certified, and a full-time nurse is on duty during camp hours. Our team is carefully selected for their maturity, experience, and commitment to the YMCA core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility. As Character Champions, our counselors work to build a strong Camp Family where every camper is supported, included, and encouraged. As a licensed day camp, we meet or exceed all Connecticut Department of Health standards.
We also believe deeply in the power of play and its role in learning. Through Intentional Programming, we design engaging activities that help campers:
• Build self-confidence and self-respect, becoming leaders and valued team members.
• Grow as responsible family and community members who recognize their ability to create positive change.
• Develop healthy habits and understand the importance of physical and mental well-being.
• Embrace new people, cultures, and experiences with openness and curiosity.
• Strengthen their leadership skills to solve problems, guide others, and shape their own path.
• Deepen their appreciation for nature and understand the importance of caring for our environment.
